Bluejays! Here is a special update from our Jepson School "Day of Justice" event to support the incredible work at Yale Children's Hospital! We are absolutely blown away by the generosity of our community. In addition to the massive amount of donated items we received, we also collected $500 in cash donations!

We wanted to put that money to work right away and make the biggest impact possible for the kids. So, our Magnet Resource Teacher, Ms. Barbara, and her son, headed out for a very successful shopping trip at the Five Below in Old Saybrook!

Part way through the trip, the cart was overflowing with creative craft kits, games, and cozy plush stuffies. At this point, we knew we would need to turn this into a two day adventure!

So far, we have spent $390! The receipt was taller than us! We collected everything from board games and a wide range of favorite character merchandise, to sophisticated creative projects like intricate diamond painting, crystal art kits, and even interactive items like "Groovy Lamps." This collection truly offers something for everyone!

This monumental effort was only made possible through the fantastic support of the staff at the Old Saybrook Five Below! A huge, official "Thank You" for being top-notch, exceptionally friendly, helpful, and efficient in guiding us through this massive purchase.

But we're not done! With $110 still to spend, we will be returning to Five Below soon to get even more joy for the kids. Once everything is finalized, we will deliver this spectacular collection to the Yale Children's Hospital.

Thank you to everyone at Benjamin Jepson for making this "Day of Justice" such a powerful and successful expression of community and support!

Although the Sound School class of 2026 practiced under our tent by the sound, ultimately the rain moved the joyous occasion indoors to neighboring Betsy Ross. Congratulations to our graduates!!

What better way to wrap up the school year than reading outdoors all together? Our amazing Truman 3rd and 5th-grade students had the absolute best time soaking up the sunshine, diving into great books, and enjoying some delicious popsicles alongside their teachers, Mrs. Brown, Ms. Gomez, Ms. Nai, and Mrs. Pasan!

It was the perfect celebration to cap off a wonderful year of learning and community spirit!

🌟 Jepson Day of Justice: Part 2! 🌟

Today was an absolutely jam-packed day of community, leadership, and creativity for Part 2 of our annual event! Our amazing Bluejays spent the day working on special projects to bring joy and hope to the patients at Yale New Haven Children’s Hospital.

Here is a look at what our students accomplished today:
• Suncatchers: Students crafted beautiful, bright suncatchers to hang up and light up the hospital windows.
• The Multi-Age Model in Action: Our 5th and 6th graders stepped up as incredible mentors, guiding our Pre-K and Kindergarten students to create heart spinners. It was a beautiful display of older leaders helping our youngest learners!
• Kindness Chains & Walkathon: For every lap completed in our walkathon, students earned a strip of paper to build massive "kindness chains" that will be displayed at the hospital.
• Garden of Hope: Students painted vibrant, uplifting rocks to be placed in Yale's Garden of Hope.

We are so incredibly proud of the empathy, leadership, and school spirit our students showed today. Thank you to everyone who made this day so unforgettable!

As 7th grade bilingual students at Truman School finalized their end-of-year projects, they asked: Is space exploration a daring adventure or a dangerous risk?

Inspired by Ms. Taracena’s daughter, who was accepted into an astronaut program, they created stories and brought them to life with models and drawings. Our 7th graders shared their work with Dr. Jaca and all bilingual classes in a fun interdisciplinary event!

Truman School students enjoyed their time last Thursday at the Chalk Festival! A massive thank you to our amazing Truman families for all your effort and support. Thanks to your dedication, we raised twice as much as last year!

Even though we had to adapt to the rain, our community spirit shone through to make it a wonderful day full of smiles.
Ms. Nabakooza and Ms. Villa, our art teachers, are especially proud of our Truman students. They did a truly amazing job, showing outstanding teamwork and creativity to produce beautiful art despite having to switch up their materials and move to a new location.

Thank you again to the entire Truman community for making this event such a huge success for New Haven Public Schools!
