Honoring Our Heroes!

Today, the Clinton Avenue School 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students came together for a special Veterans Day Assembly to honor and thank the brave men and women who have served our country. We were honored to welcome members of the Army, Coast Guard, Air Force, and Navy.

Thank you to all our veterans for your courage, dedication, and sacrifice. We are forever grateful for your service!

Ross Woodward's first annual Clippers and Cheese event was a huge success! We had more than 20 students receive haircuts donated by our amazing barber team! Shout out to Mr. James Williams and Mr. Bart Lane for their amazing services donated to our school community! Check them out on social media along with their barbershops in New Haven!!! We were ready for picture day!!!

Davis Academy students showed off their new piloting skills by coding drones through the obstacle course. This is where computer science meets hands on learning experiences.

New Haven Public schools has launched its new program of swim instruction for third graders. The program features 12 one-hour lessons for all participating students. It operates in collaboration with the city's Youth and Recreation Department and the nonprofit LEAP. The program is supported by a generous private grant.

The Wilbur Cross men's soccer team was runner-up in its first-ever appearance in the Southern Connecticut Conference championship game yesterday, losing 2-1 to Xavier High School. It was a big day for all fans of the Governors!

The day after Election Day, our Martinez students put democracy into action! 🇺🇸

Students participated in a democratic election process to select their Student Council officers. Candidates prepared and delivered speeches, campaigned for support, shared their ideas, and encouraged their classmates to vote.

Experiences like these give students a meaningful opportunity to practice leadership, develop their voices, and understand the responsibilities that come with civic participation.

At Martinez, we believe student voice matters. Today’s student leaders are tomorrow’s engaged citizens! 🗳️

Hillhouse High School Assistant Principal Shanette Robinson and Principal Dr. Antoine Billy received the Administrator Award from the Connecticut Association of School Librarians last night in Groton.

Anthony Mcdonald, executive director of the Shubert Theater, visited Mauro-Sheridan School in honor of our monthly theme, Kindness . He read to Mrs. Catarino's grade 4 class!

On Friday, Fair Haven School celebrated their annual Hispanic heritage celebration. Staff and students celebrated with dances, poems, songs, and more. There was a poster making contest and one of the 8th grade students won! Thank you to everyone who came to celebrate and make the show a success. A special shout out to longtime event partners ARTE Inc. and Community Schools. We look forward to next year’s event!

The Sound School completed their fall sailing season hosting the annual Joseph Manganella regatta on Saturday. Visiting competitors were from Guilford and Xavier.

Juanita Mazyck was honored with the Legacy Award at the annual Board of Alders Black and Hispanic Caucus gala last night. The award recognizes community leaders and public servants who have made a lasting impact.

Today the Edgewood community shared in celebrating the beauty and joy of Hispanic culture through song, dance, art, and poetry. Students showcased their exploration of Bomba, Salsa, Bachata, and Cha-Cha-Cha music and dance styles. Families laughed and sang along as students performed "Oye Como Va" and "Vivir Mi Vida" and connected to their identities through poetry. Every student was represented through work in various styles of Hispanic artwork across grades K–8. It was a joyful, inclusive, and colorful celebration and a true demonstration of our school’s commitment to collaborative, culturally responsive learning!

Today Ross Woodward held our annual Book Character Parade. Everyone dressed in costumes and we paraded through our school community! Families were welcome to attend and our Drum Line even preformed in costume!!!

Davis Academy had its annual AAA (Awesome Authors Autumn) Walk Thursday, October 29th. Students dressed as characters from their book studies and marched around the neighborhood for the community and families sharing their love of reading and their Davis PRIDE!

What a wonderful family experience at Celentano School! Last evening Title 1  Curriculum Night was filled with learning, exploration, and connection. So great to see students and families discovering and learning together! Many thanks to our Academic Team for showing up in full force...and our parent liaisons for making this very special evening possible!

A Celebration of Culture, Creativity, and Connection!

Our Metro students were the chefs, creators, facilitators, and culture carriers during two vibrant days celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month!

From Guatemalan worry dolls and paper marigolds to tostones, mango with lime and chili, and rounds of Lotería, the library was alive with art, food, music, games, and cultural exchange!

💙 A special shoutout to our student leaders who generously shared their traditions, talents, and knowledge with the wider Metro community!
