What an incredible Field Day 2026 at Truman School!

From water games and sports to our amazing exotic animal encounter, the energy was off the charts. A massive thank you to Mrs. Curran for the flawless coordination, and to all our wonderful volunteers for keeping the students fueled with treats. Seeing the kids so happy makes it all worth it!

Heidi Pitkin and Qualina Cooper-Purefoy hosted Discover Yourself: Career Day at Wexler Grant Academy of Exploration and Innovation, as part of the collage and career advisement program. The fair included presenters who are make-up artists, elderly care CNAs, business owners, and a disc jockey. Representatives of the police and fire departments joined in.

This year’s Science Fair showcased more than 200 student research and engineering projects representing 19 New Haven schools,. Students in grades K–12 shared their scientific investigations, engineering designs, and innovative solutions while engaging with scientists, engineers, healthcare professionals, and STEM industry leaders.

In addition to student projects, the event featured 14 interactive STEM activity stations led by representatives from local universities, bioscience companies, biotechnology organizations, museums, healthcare institutions, and community partners.

Veteran educator Robert Canelli, former principal of Sheridan Middle School, visited Mauro-Sheridan in honor of our monthly theme, Be Safe! He reminded students to be respectful and to remain focused on their education.

The gym at Truman School was alive with rhythm and song as our multi-talented scholars took the stage. Our students showed off their hard work with different instruments from traditional recorders to high-energy bucket drumming

Our "Cool Audience" of students loved every second of the show, and we owe a massive Thank You to Mr. D for orchestrating such an incredible concert.

Senior Class Night sent our seniors off with pride, joy, cords, pins, certificates, accomplishments, and powerful words from people who know and love them. 🎓 🏅

Mrs. Irizarry and Ms. Gomez had an absolute blast exploring the Big Apple with our incredible Truman School scholars.

The day was packed with unforgettable moments, from touring the Financial District and seeing One World Trade Center to cruising on the ferry for an up-close look at the Statue of Liberty. Our students showed amazing school spirit and curiosity every step of the way.

Huge thanks to all of our wonderful teachers, staff, and chaperones who helped make this memorable day possible!

Metro Law Pathway students brought their learning to life Monday with a mock trial at the U.S. District Court on Church Street. We are proud of their preparation, professionalism, and powerful voices in the courtroom. ⚖️🏛️✨

🎉 HISTORY MADE! 🎉 Last night, we celebrated a massive milestone: our very first cohort of seniors graduating from the Manufacture New Haven pathway! 🎓✨ Over the last 4 years, these incredible students didn’t just cruise through high school—they put in hard work. Upon completion of this program, they have mastered: 🛠️ CNC Machining 📏 Metrology 💻 Computer Aided Design (CAD) 💼 Essential Professional Skills On top of that, they’re graduating with their OSHA-10 certifications and many college credits! 📚 The absolute best part? They have choices. Whether they are heading to college or launching their careers straight into Electric Boat, their futures are bright. 🚀 We couldn’t be prouder of this group and can’t wait to see how they shape the world. Join us in congratulating the MNHP Class of 2026!🎉

Dr. Lonnell Lawson, senior chaplain at Yale New Haven Hospital and executive pastor of Revival Church In Hamden visited Mauro-Sheridan School and read to Mrs. Puglisi's kindergarten class in honor of our monthly theme, Be Safe.

Students in grades 3 through 6 from across the district participated in a one-mile fun run organized by the Athletics Department at East Shore Park. The annual event celebrates student fitness.

The runners included three girls and three boys from each grade at each of 29 elementary schools. They competed in grade-level. heats.

New Haven Athletics is pleased to invite rising 9th grade students and their families to an upcoming information session regarding participation in high school sports.

Students in Clinton Avenue School teacher Stephanie Persiani’s seventh grade bilingual science classes participated in a series of brain-focused investigations using anatomical brain models and interactive experiments that demonstrate how the brain receives and processes information. The event, repeated in science classrooms across the district, was undertaken in collaboration with the Greater New Haven Chamber of Commerce and the New Haven BioScience Collaborative. It kicked off Science Week in the New Haven Public Schools.

We had an incredible day celebrating our amazing Truman School community:

K-1 Alphabet Parade: Our youngest learners rocked the runway showing off their reading and phonics milestones!

Students vs. Teachers: Epic gym games, big laughs, and some awesome friendly rivalry.

Students of the Month: Huge congratulations to our honorees recognized for incredible GROWTH and determination!

5th , 6th and 7th grade students from Truman School learned that forests are not only beautiful places to visit and enjoy together on a hike, but also living infrastructure where every part depends on the others to survive. Trees give us oxygen, support pollination, and help manage our water.
Our students also use the trails to exercise while learning how to protect the environment. They understand that to preserve our forests, we must recycle and pack out any trash we bring in.

🩺 BIG news for the future of healthcare in New Haven! 🌟 Join us in celebrating nearly 100 incredible New Haven Public Schools students who completed the Excel Academy CNA certification program! 🎉 These dedicated students have officially completed all their necessary course hours and intensive clinical training, and are currently taking their exams to become Certified Nursing Assistants! This massive achievement includes students from our three premier healthcare pathway schools: 🔹 Wilbur Cross High School 🔹 James Hillhouse High School 🔹 Hill Regional Career High School ...PLUS a dedicated group of district-wide students who stepped up for our special spring program! NHPS is incredibly proud to pave the way for real-world career preparation. Through our health career pathways, these students aren’t just earning a diploma—they are graduating with invaluable, hands-on experience and a direct head start into high-demand healthcare careers. Members of the JSM Student Council Eco Warriors visited our partners at City Seed along with Governor Ned Lamont to learn more about the meaningful work being done to connect families with fresh, locally grown food and strengthen community food programs. Our students were proud to share the impact of the JSM Eco Warriors and the importance of empowering young people to create positive change in their communities. 💙💚
